The ship's hull rusts in the centre of the cove, orange against white sand, ringed by limestone cliffs rising vertically from turquoise water — viewed these seasons from the clifftop platform while access works keep the sand itself closed. On the southern shore, loggerheads cut some 1,200 nests a year into Laganas Bay.
A Government Gazette decision dated 28 May 2026 prohibits landing or swimming at Navagio and keeps vessels at least 50 metres from shore until 31 October 2026. Visitors can still see the cove from authorised clifftop and offshore viewpoints, subject to live restrictions. On the south coast, the National Marine Park protects loggerhead nesting habitat, so responsible operators, marked zones and seasonal rules matter more than promises of close wildlife encounters.
