Fiji
Twenty-five villas on a private island where a submarine awaits, the Pacific's most exclusive resort.
Twenty-five villas, a submarine, horses, a working farm, and six kilometres of private beach. Laucala Island is not simply an expensive resort โ it is what happens when a private island is developed with the resources of a small government and no requirement to compromise. There is a version of Fiji here that exists nowhere else.
Laucala Island, off the northeastern tip of Taveuni, was purchased by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz in 2003 and developed into one of the Pacific's most comprehensively equipped private resort islands. The island operates 25 villas, each with its own pool and dedicated butler, on a 1,400-acre property including a working farm, golf course, stables, and marine research programme. The private submarine allows guests to explore the reef from below. The farm produces the majority of food consumed at the resort. Malcolm Forbes originally owned the island and used it as a base for his yacht.
Couple
Laucala represents the most completely developed private island experience in the Pacific โ 25 villas, approximately 700 staff, and access to a personal submarine.
Solo
For the traveller for whom cost is not a consideration and complete privacy is, the island's scale allows genuine solitude within extraordinary facilities.
Private dining anywhere on the island โ from a coconut plantation to a volcanic hilltop.
