Amboseli National Park covers 392 square kilometres of Kajiado County in southern Kenya, sitting directly at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park's permanent swamps, fed by underground meltwater from Kilimanjaro's glaciers, sustain over 1,500 elephants — one of the longest-studied populations on the continent, tracked by the Amboseli Elephant Research Project since 1972.
