A High Coast summit with a via ferrata route bolted into rising post-glacial granite.
Skulberget rises 286 metres directly from the Bothnian Sea — the High Coast's signature cliff, climbable by via ferrata with iron rungs and cables fixed to vertical granite. The chairlift offers the same view for less effort. At the top, the coastline stretches in both directions, the land still rising imperceptibly from the weight of ice that left ten thousand years ago.
Skuleberget (Skulberget) is a cliff on the Höga Kusten (High Coast) in Västernorrland, rising 286 metres from sea level. The via ferrata route climbs the cliff face using iron rungs and steel cables bolted into the granite — no prior climbing experience is required, though a head for heights is essential. A chairlift operates year-round for those who prefer the view without the vertical effort. The cliff is part of the UNESCO-listed High Coast, and the summit panorama encompasses the Bothnian Sea, the surrounding forest, and the geological evidence of ongoing land uplift. Adventure racing events use the mountain as a stage.
Friends
The via ferrata is inherently a shared experience — clipping in, climbing, and reaching the summit together creates the kind of group memory that chairlift passengers don't get.
Solo
Climbing the via ferrata alone, clipping from rung to rung above the Bothnian Sea, concentrates the experience into pure physicality and exposure — no conversation required.
Summit café fika — cinnamon buns earned by climbing. The best view on the High Coast.
